Walls, Windows, Doors…
6 Jun 2024

They have a purpose, doors. They are built for protection, privacy, closure. They control access. Determine flow. They direct where and how we unpack the groceries, or who we let in, or how we go out. I love doors. I love walls. I love thick walls that withstand the weather. And solid doors with metal studs to make it clear there are parts of me that is not for consumption at all, least of all public. I love my doors and love my passageways. And I love the walls too. But I understand that walls without doors are dungeons. And doors that never open are no longer doors. It’s a scary world out there sometimes… but doors are there to open as well as to close. Sometimes we should leave it a little bit ajar, to let the air in. Sometimes we should peek outside. And other times – oh yes – we should throw it wide open so that we may see why doors were built. Your issues, baggage, defences are all valid. Still, open doors… that way you get the best sights.
