Reading The Room
6 Feb 2023

A library is a temple of the mind. Each book contains a world, or several, to explore. Each shelf is a universe. Every page is another library. And here is the perfect place to sit and write, to create the future volumes which will take their place. A sense of structure and respect for the work…

I’ve written things in a lot of places. A novel in a coffee shop, a short story on my bed, a screenplay on a train, an article in the back of a cab… I’m not fussy or particular, because I don’t have that luxury. I know the golden rules of being a working writer – don’t wait for the perfect time or place, get up, shut up, put out and deliver!

But you can’t tell me that sitting here and penning something would not improve what lands on the page…

Writing is a two way process. There is – indeed – what comes out. But another important and crucial part – is what goes in. And sometimes, to improve what’s written, you need to read the room.
