I’m posting garbage. Perhaps. But there is something to be said for finding beauty in things as they are, and not as they should be. There is a peculiar appeal in the gritty and grimy realities of urban living. This is an alley behind a popular nightlife spot. In the front, beautiful young people and flashy lights. Inside, more bright lights and money to spend. In the back – this – a practical, rough around the edges space that exists not to be on the cover of the postcard but which makes the existence of the postcard possible in the first place.
Here is the gift of acceptance; the value gained by dealing with the reality and truth of fact. Here is resignation to where one really stands. Here is the back street of the human landscape, and even so, it has its own charms.
